Meet your local host

Creator of meaningful experiences in Portugal, based in Aveiro

Portugal reveals itself when you take the time to meet the people who bring it to life. It's these simple, sincere and passionate exchanges that I love to create for travelers.

Emeline

A French national settled in the Aveiro region, Emeline founded SóPraSi with Virginia, driven by the desire to showcase a more natural, intimate and human Portugal. After rich international careers filled with encounters and cultural exchanges, she chose to put down roots in Portugal for its gentle way of life, its warmth and the diversity of its landscapes. Emeline designs private and fully bespoke stays, crafted to respect the pace, wishes and sensibility of each traveler. She loves highlighting villages, nature, local craftsmanship and encounters with passionate partners, through an approach that is both responsible, warm and demanding. Her perspective on Portugal favors experiences lived with intensity, yet without rushing: taking the time to exchange, to feel, to understand and to let oneself be carried by the energy of the place.

Everything you need to know about Portugal

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to visit Portugal?

Portugal can be visited almost year-round, but each season has its own character. From April to June, the country awakens: the Alentejo is carpeted with flowers, temperatures remain mild, and the Atlantic coast is already perfect for long walks. July and August see peak crowds around the Algarve and Lisbon; it's better to head north then, toward the Douro or Minho regions, which are cooler and greener. September and October are, in our view, the most generous months: harvest season in the Douro Valley, the ocean still warm, magnificent light. Winter, mild but humid, suits urban stays in Porto, Lisbon, or Coimbra, and getaways to Madeira.

What budget should I plan for a trip to Portugal?

Portugal remains one of Europe's most accessible destinations, without compromising on quality. For a comfortable tailor-made stay, budget an average of 130 to 200 € per day and per person, excluding flights, including characterful accommodation, private transfers, some guided visits and a few gastronomic experiences. A higher-end itinerary in pousadas, Douro quintas or Lisbon boutique hotels can exceed 300 €. Conversely, by opting for family-run guesthouses and inland regions such as Alentejo or the Beiras, your budget decreases significantly. The right balance ultimately depends on your preferred pace and the type of properties that appeal to you.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Portugal?

Going through a local agency in Portugal means avoiding the same old itineraries and gaining what guides won't tell you: the right village to stop at between Évora and Monsaraz, the green wine producer who opens their cellar to curious visitors, the grilled fish table that locals keep to themselves. Based in Aveiro, Virginia and Emeline build each trip directly, in English, after listening to what you're really looking for. A member of the Nomadays collective, SóPraSi combines this on-the-ground proximity with reassuring French standards: payment in euros, protected funds, APST guarantee. You travel accompanied by a team that truly knows the country, with no unnecessary intermediaries.

What to see on a Portugal trip?

A trip to Portugal rarely follows a straight line. It often starts with Lisbon and its hills, before heading to Sintra, Óbidos or the wild coast of Alentejo, between Comporta and Costa Vicentina. Further north, Porto and the Douro Valley reserve entire days along the river, between quintas and schist terraces. The centre, more off the beaten path, is home to Serra da Estrela, the granite villages of Piódão or the Aveiro ria, which we know better than anyone. For those with time, Madeira and the Azores add a volcanic interlude, made up of hiking trails, natural pools and villages suspended above the Atlantic.
